1. for an upstream swim,
grow strong, sturdy limbs. to be
a girl in this world
2. I’ve come to know nights
dark blue hues through the windows
body versus me
3. in my mid-30s
we’re getting reacquainted
this body and I
4. each of us, a wave
in one ocean. same water,
no I and no you.
5. speak to me in sounds
rawest form of vibration
as it leaves your lips
6. I grip the kite string
as time’s wind swoops you skyward
you’re growing too fast
